Solving Pet Problems without the Dog Problems Solved Ebooks…
To understand and solve pet behaviour problems, Dr Jo Righetti, animal behaviourist, considers it a 3-step process. Find the Cause, use Management techniques and put long-term Solutions in place
Find a cause
If you can work out why your pet is doing a particular behaviour and address their needs, you will find it easier to put solutions in place. Common causes of canine behaviour problems include a genetic tendency. Some dogs are bred to dig. Other dog are bred to keep humans company.
Dog behavioural issues may also result from the dog’s environment. A lack of socialisation– positive experiences- when young may result in fearful dogs, who may be more likely to bite.
Management
Prevent your pet performing the behaviour by careful management will help stop unwanted behaviours in the short term. Prevent your dog digging by fencing off any precious areas of your yard.
Solutions
Solving pet behavioural issues can take time and patience. Success also depends on having an understanding of your pet’s needs. This is the long-term solution to your pet behaviour problems. Giving your dog an appropriate place to dig may help control their digging behaviour.
