All reptiles are cute, witty and well-known for their calm, quiet nature. They are some of the top choices of pet owners that want to maintain a low-noise environment, yet to bring a piece of nature inside their households or offices. There is a large number of reptile species out there and if it were to choose the best one of them, it would be an impossible mission, as they all have their pros and cons.

However, there are some reptiles that make good pets while others should be left alone in nature.

If you are planning to buy a reptile for a pet for the first time, it is important to know a little bit about some of the friendliest species. That way, you will know what to expect of a certain reptile and will be able to easily choose the perfect one for your home. Before we move on to the list of pet reptiles, let’s talk about regulations.

Regulations

Whether you live in the USA, UK, or Australia, one thing is for sure: you just have to be familiar with the regulations in your country and jurisdiction.

For example, in Australia you’ll need to get a license for almost any type of reptile you want to keep as a pet. On the other hand, in America, the rules are not so strict. The same goes for the UK.

So, before buying a certain pet reptile, make sure you’ve found out all the relevant info, so as to not break any laws or pay any fees. Finding out those info should not be hard (thanks to the Internet) just type the name of the town you live in, and you’ll probably find the information. However, it this doesn’t work, you can always go to the pet store and ask about law regulations or for recommendation where to find out the info you need.

• Leopard gecko
  This is one of the top choices for beginner reptile owners as are easy to take care of. Leopard Gecko originates from Asia, but it can also be found in Afghanistan, as well as in some parts of India. Due to their nature, as well as to their body structure, they aren’t able to climb smooth surfaces. They can be easily recognized due to their small size, movable eyelids, rich patterns, and colors. They are great as pets, as they are easy to feed, strong and extremely friendly. 
• Corn snakes
  If you’re looking to buy a snake, this is probably the best choice you can make. Corn snakes are easy to take care of and not dangerous at all. They have a lifespan up to 10 (or even more) years, yet, they are active and like to move a lot. If you choose one of these snakes, you better make sure that you keep it in a well-secured and a large tank, otherwise, he will escape as soon as you take off your eyes of him.

• Turtles
  Naturally, not all turtles can be kept as pets, because of their requirements but also because of law regulations. The most common ones are read-eared sliders, painted turtle, Caspian pond turtle, ornate wood turtle, and African aquatic side neck turtle.

Although they need a balanced diet in order to have a healthy, long life, they are not difficult to take care of. In order to offer them everything they need, your turtle aquarium must have both water and dry surfaces, such as a bathing platform, a floating pond, etc. Also, they love to be surrounded by plants and rocks, as they like to hide and climb.

Final Thoughts
The reason why some reptiles are better as pets than others is that they need less attention; they are not pretentious when it comes to their living environment and are not as sensitive as others of their kind. Choose one of the above reptiles and you’ll be able to properly take care of them, and will also enjoy their company. However, do keep in mind that you can’t keep just any type of turtles, snakes or other reptiles at your home, since you might even be sued for that. So, just in case, before buying a reptile pet, make sure to check latest law regulations about them.
