Write an article/ blog post

You may submit a guest article or blog post to Dr Jo for consideration. You must fulfill the following criteria:
  • The topic should be an issue, an informative piece or a fun observation on pets or pet owners. It should not be solely about products.
  • The topic must either have longevity (these will be published in the Pet Problems Solved website) or be topical (published in Dr Jo's blog). Blog posts are accepted more often.
  • The piece must be original, not published elsewhere. You should check that a similar topic has not already been published in Dr Jo's website or blog. 
  • You should have expertise in the particular area you are writing about or be a qualified and experienced writer who can research your topic thoroughly. For instance if you are writing about renting a house with pets, you should have expertise in renting houses. Also having expertise in pets would be a bonus but if you do not, Dr Jo will edit your writing.
  • You must state which organisation or company you are writing on behalf of. If you are writing purely for yourself, please state this.
  • Articles on dog and cat behaviour or human-pet relationships will not be published unless they take a unique angle eg. recently published research, as Dr Jo writes these.
  • Articles on how to care for a pet are unlikely to be published.
  • Articles should be between 500 and 1000 words in length and should be written in clear, concise paragraphs. Bullet points within the article are acceptable, as as tips, top tens etc. 
  • Original photographs can be supplied if desired. If not, Dr Jo will supply photos.

  • Infographics can be submitted but these are not accepted as readily as short articles..
  • It is OK to put a link in the article but this should be relevant to the topic. Dr Jo would also like you to provide a link back to her website or blog and/or promote through social media channels. This is non-negotiable.
  • Links to commercials products may incur a fee. Contact Dr Righetti for further information.
  • You can submit the completed article or submit an idea. 
  • There is no guarantee that ideas will be accepted or that finished articles will be published.
