Once every 4 years we get an extra day on our calendar. What do we do with it? Unless you are a girl, proposing to your partner to get married… most of us do absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.
Wouldn’t it be good if we did not go to work or stay at home and do housework or even drive to see our friends and families once again. Instead wouldn’t it be a good idea if we could use this day to benefit someone or something in need. I suggest that our employers and schools give us the day off to volunteers for not-for-profit organisations.
Many of us are supporters of charities but we often don’t send much time volunteering. Wouldn’t this be a great opportunity to give some hands on help. Walk a shelter dog. Pat a cat. Even upload photos to the web, as some organisation struggle very week with finding time to do this and this is such an important way of finding homes for unwanted pets. So many pet organisations looking for help.
What would you do with your extra day? What did you do today?
