What does an animal behaviourist do when visiting L.A? While other tourists may visit Beverly HIlls, Sunset Strip or Disneyland, I go off to a cat cafe! Crumbs & Whiskers cat cafe helps shelter cats by offering coffee with cat cuddles in Hollywood, in exchange for a small fee and consideration of rehoming.
Well, maybe not adoption for those of us who live overseas, but at least I had my cat fix while away from my own feline family. And, maybe not quite cat cuddles – but pats and laps – on cat terms, of course.

I have now visited cat cafes all around the world and each has a different cat-mosphere, I enjoyed this one due to the focus on the cats. The surrounds were very cat friendly with places to remain hidden (behind curtains or in beds), places to get up high and feel safe and places for humans to perch.

So with my cat-uccino in hand, I met some very pretty/handsome; young (but also some oldies); outgoing (with some shy) individuals. Here are a selection of those friendly felines currently looking for homes…

And, of course, no cafe would be complete without some cat ambushes, cat leaps, just cats being cats!

And, of course, had I been living in L.A., I would have been tempted to take one home. But since I must return to Sydney and my 4 felines, I will leave that to you. Please consider adopting a cat needing a home. You do become very attached!

Postscript: Two months later
So pleased to hear that Sugar (the one-eyed tortie), one of the cats I met while at the cafe, was adopted today by the greatest family.
Please consider the other rescue cats if thinking about a pet 🙂
